Miuccia Prada worked with director Baz Luhrmann and Oscar-winning costume designer Catherine Martin to create some of the outfits worn by the stars of the film Elvis. The movie examines the life and music of Elvis Presley, celebrating both his own individual style and that of an entire era. Miuccia Prada began by studying Elvis and Priscilla Presley’s original clothes, before finding affinities and links in the Prada and Miu Miu archives to inspire new creations. The result strongly embodies the years depicted in the film, but also expresses the two brands’ DNA and history. The garments created in this way include a plum-colour kid mohair suit, worn by Austin Butler in the role of Elvis, while Olivia DeJonge, who plays Priscilla in the movie, wears outfits including a Miu Miu beaded and fringed brocade pant suit and a Prada look comprising a tweed dress paired with a mohair sweater and brown suede jacket.
