The Prada Group’s climate strategy – unveiled by Lorenzo Bertelli, Group Head of Corporate Social Responsibility, on Capital Markets Day in November 2021 – sets out direct and indirect greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction targets and a series of projects and tangible steps for the next few years to ensure the group meets them. The goals have been approved by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), a benchmark scientific organisation for all sectors in the fight against climate change.
The group will act on the following initiatives to achieve a 29% reduction in direct emissions (Scope 1 and 2) by 2026:
- Electrifying industrial site heating systems, with plans for five facilities;
- ‘Green’ company vehicle fleet: 60% eco-friendly by the end of 2022;
- Doubling energy production from solar panels owned by the group;
- Increased investment in renewable energy supplies;
- Achieving LEED Gold or Platinum certification.
The second target involves indirect emissions (Scope 3) generated throughout the Prada Group’s supply chain, and aims to reduce indirect GHG emissions by 42% by the end of 2029.
