The second AC 75 Luna Rossa yacht was launched in Auckland on 20 October in a simple ceremony with a family feel, with a blessing given by Pa Peter Tipene, cathedral dean of St. Patrick’s Cathedral in Auckland, followed by the boat’s christening. A bottle of Ferrari Maximum Blanc de Blancs was broken over the bow by Tatiana Sirena, the wife of the skipper and team director Max Sirena, and the local Maori community accompanied proceedings with a ritual traditionally used for boat launches. The races will begin with the PRADA America’s Cup World Series and the PRADA Christmas Race (17-20 December), followed by the PRADA Cup (15 January – 22 February 2021), the Challenger selection regattas that will determine which team will take on the Defender, Emirates Team New Zealand, in the Final Match of the 36th America’s Cup presented by PRADA. (6-21 March 2021).
