New Prada store at Tokyo Miyashita Park, the vast multipurpose complex recently opened in the Shibuya district. The approximately-300-square-metre space is streamlined in style, with the iconic black-and-white chequered floor rendered in a macro version, walls made of backlit “sponge” – the material created by OMA for the Prada Epicenter in Los Angeles –, a video wall serving as a backdrop, and steel display units. The store offers a themed selection of unisex items, including bags, backpacks, accessories and shoes made of the new Re-Nylon, as well as a selection of Prada books, limited-edition T-shirts with opening-themed prints, and stationery produced in collaboration with the Japanese firm Traveller’s Company. Prada also developed a digital project for the occasion; ‘My Shibuya View’ is available on Prada’s LINE account and at prada.com, and showcases film clips produced by creators and musicians to walk us through their favourite spots in Shibuya.
