Prada and Sotheby’s are working together on ‘Tools of Memory’, an online fundraising auction in support of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) and its education safeguarding programmes in the wake of the unprecedented damage caused by COVID-19. Various original items from the Prada Fall/Winter 2020 men’s and women’s runway shows will be going under the hammer: unique garments worn by the models, photo prints capturing spontaneous moments from backstage, polaroid pictures, invitations and seat markers, furnishings from the set and Frédéric Sanchez’s music, as played at the shows, on vinyl. The 72 lots will be auctioned on the Sotheby’s website from 2 to 15 October, with a selection available to view in two pop-up stores in Sotheby’s in New York and London. All proceeds will go to the UNESCO campaign ‘Keeping girls in the picture’ and the Global Education Coalition initiative for gender equality in education.
