A new Fondazione Prada photo exhibition at the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II’s Osservatorio in Milan. Devised by Kate Crawford – an artist, professor, and artificial intelligence scholar – and by the artist and researcher Trevor Paglen, it retraces the history of images used to “train” AI systems in how to “see” and categorize the world. Training Humans poses two fundamental questions: “Where are the boundaries between science, history, politics, bias, and ideology in artificial intelligence?” and “Who has the power to build these systems and benefit from them?”. The answers are left to personal interpretation.
