For the opening of artist Goshka Macuga’s “What was I?” exhibition, Prada hosted an event attended by over 600 prestigious guests from the world of art, design and fashion, which took place at Rong Zhai – early 20th-century residence – in Shanghai. During the soirée, guests were entertained by a Chinese calligrapher who reproduced the android’s original speech in Chinese characters, translating from English into Chinese.
The event was enlivened with a performance by Beijing opera national actors Tian Hui and Lan Tian, who staged a scene from “The Confession (Zuo Gong)”, composed in the mid-19th century.
Guests included the artists Ding Yi, Zhang Peili, Zhou Tieha, ShangArt Gallery founder Lorenz Hepling, Centre Pompidou director Bernanrd Blistène, Shanghai Museum of Glass director Zhang Li, Art021 founder Kylie Ying, the influencers Anny Fan, Leaf Greener and Linda Li, and the models Cici Xiang and Kiki Kang.
