Dakota Fanning makes her directorial debut with Hello Apartment, the fifteenth chapter in the Miu Miu Women’s Tales series of short films celebrating femininity in the 21st century.
Written by Liz Hannah (the screenwriter, alongside Steven Spielberg, of the Oscar-nominated The Post), this new short sets out to show how a single space can bring back one’s past many years later. Ava’s (Eve Hewson) apartment therefore becomes a witness to a period of her life, home to parties and laughter, relationships, screaming and crying, where every detail becomes a permanent memory.
This is a tender portrait of a young woman and her first apartment, skipping sensually over days, months and years. Decades later, a much older Ava returns to the same space, reminding us that we always leave a trace of ourselves in our surroundings.
