The Boat is Leaking. The Captain Lied is the title of Fondazione Prada’s forthcoming exhibition at its Ca’ Corner della Regina premises in Venice, to be held from 13 May to 26 November 2017. The project stems from an in-depth discussion between writer and director Alexander Kluge, artist Thomas Demand, set and costume designer Anna Viebrock and curator Udo Kittelmann, and will explore a range of artistic languages through films, photographs, installations and works on loan from public and private collections. The exhibition underlines the places the creative minds of the three artists involved intersect and the historical and political implications of their works. The 18th-century Ca’ Corner delle Regina palace will be transformed into a metaphorical space that allows visitors to explore the world we live in and our personal attitudes, as well as somewhere to enjoy a series of experiences and talks. It will offer an analysis of the critical aspects and complexities of the present day, balanced between apparent normality and catastrophe, a lease of life and a loss of trust, and extreme distress and unlimited hope.
