At four months from the start of the 37th America’s Cup, the Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli team has launched at the Cagliari base the monohull AC75 with which it will race in Barcelona (Spain).
Godmother of the launch, as per tradition, was Miuccia Prada who broke the bottle on the bow of the boat, christening her “Luna Rossa”. Right beside her were Patrizio Bertelli, President of the team, Marco Tronchetti Provera, Executive Vice-President of Pirelli and Max Sirena, Skipper and Team Director of Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli.
The ceremony was very well attended, with the presence of numerous guests and celebrities as well as TV and media representatives who also traveled from abroad for a closer look at this brand-new boat.
With a 22-meter long hull, characterized by an unmistakable and bold metal color, Luna Rossa was designed by the Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli design team and built at the Persico Marine shipyard in Nembro. Following the launch, the boat will undergo sea trials and training in Cagliari before being transported to Barcelona for the 37th America’s Cup regattas.
