Art, science and education: these are the three themes that Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli and Ogyre will use to promote the environmental issues set forth in the new awareness-raising programme on the preservation of the oceans, that will be carried out alongside the “fishing for litter” activity. After launching the campaign in 2022 – where they pledged to collect 6,000 kg of marine litter – Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli and Ogyre have decided to increase the quota to a total of 16,000 kg by 2024. In addition to the “ocean spotlight” social content series, in which the members of the Italian team talked about their bond to the sea, Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli and Ogyre announced the birth of “Sea Forward”, a collection of stories aimed at promoting greater awareness on ocean pollution that, in addition to education and communication, will also involve art and science. More specifically, the two entities will organize a workshop with Max Lamb, an international artist who will involve the participants in a process of recycling, with the hope that, by thinking outside the box, alternative solutions may be born. In the presence of the artist, in fact, participants will be able to witness the entire creation process, through which, from an abandoned waste, a new and functional object is born. In addition, Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli and Ogyre will partner with a university institute to publish research on the impact of marine waste on the environment, which aims to understand and quantify the effects of microplastics on fauna and the ocean bed.
