The physical and virtual spaces of the Miu Miu fashion show are emphasized by the works of artist Meriem Bennani, where intimate relationships mediated through the lens are explored. Bennani takes control of the Miu Miu live stream through a series of artistic video interventions (in which her own mother is the protagonist) created to accompany the collection. The videos blend together in real time with the broadcasted show, blurring the boundaries between real and virtual. A catwalk designed by AMO, scattered with Eames office chairs, meanders through the architectural spaces of the Palais d’Iéna, emphasizing its function as a workplace. Screens in the shape of binoculars interrupt the space, re-shaping and re-editing the physical experience of the show, as the artist’s videos are projected into real life. Just like with the pieces in the collection, these visual cuts fashion a new creation, in a sort of montage of reality that alters its perception. The materials used in the venue will find new use after the event thanks to La Reserve des Arts, an association that offers a collection service for materials used in fashion shows, making them available to professionals and students in the cultural sector.
