The Final Match of the 36th America’s Cup presented by PRADA began on Wednesday 10 March in Auckland. Having won the PRADA Cup – the series of races used to select the Challenger – the Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli team is now taking on the current holder of the America’s Cup – the Defender – Emirates Team New Zealand. Expectations were high for the competition, as this is practically the first time the two teams have come head-to-head. The first day saw two extremely close-fought races, with the teams winning one each, by a margin of just a few seconds each time. After a day off, the races will resume on Friday 12 March, with two per day and no more rest days. The oldest trophy in the history of the sport will be awarded to the first team to win seven races. You can watch the races live on Rai Due and Sky Sport (ch. 205), as well as on lunarossachallenge.com beginning at 4 AM CET.
