Luna Rossa made it into the Final Match of the 36th America’s Cup presented by Prada with a 7-1 victory over INEOS Team UK. Having defeated the US team NYYC American Magic 4-0 in the semi-finals, the Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli team met the English of INEOS TEAM UK in the final, disputed at the best of 13 races. The boat proved fast in all wind conditions and the team completed its manoeuvres to perfection, and in the end, Luna Rossa only lost one of its eight races, and then only by a few seconds. The PRADA Cup, designed by Mark Lawson and created by master silversmiths from Florence, was lifted by Max Sirena and the two helmsmen Francesco Bruni and Jimmy Spithill, along with the rest of the crew and the Commodore of Circolo della Vela Sicilia, Agostino Randazzo. This is the second time in the history of the America’s Cup that Luna Rossa has reached the final of the competition. It happened back in 2000, the first time the team entered, again in Auckland’s waters. Now, starting from March 10, Luna Rossa will have to face the strong New Zealand team Emirates Team New Zealand once again and win seven more races to win the America’s Cup, the oldest trophy in the history of modern sport. Good luck Luna Rossa!!!
