On October 2nd, the second hull of the Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli Team also took off from the Bergamo-Orio al Serio airport, bound for New Zealand. Boat 2, which was built at the Persico Marine shipyard in Bergamo, just over 10 km from the airport, was transferred with a heavy-load vehicle and loaded onto an Antonov 124-100, one of the largest cargo planes out there. Along with the hull, the cargo also included the mast and one of the support boats, which will arrive in New Zealand after a 38-hour flight and two stopovers, one in the United Arab Emirates and one Indonesia. Once in Auckland, it will then be transported to the Hobson Wharf, where the team’s new base is located. Team members are starting to come out of their mandatory two-week isolation and will resume training in the Hauraki Gulf shortly after Boat 2 is launched, which is expected by the end of October.
