The Prada Group has signed up to Piano Industria 4.0, a government development plan focused on optimising manufacturing efficiency through technological innovation and automation, while at the same time creating a better-organised and higher-quality working environment and cutting costs. To encourage businesses to join this programme, the Italian government has introduced generous tax incentives based on a 150% increase in the purchase cost of new tangible assets. To be accepted as part of Piano Industria 4.0, the goods must comply with the latest safety parameters, must be able to monitor working conditions and must be interconnected using innovative, internally developed software. During 2019, the Prada Group automated the Terranuova, Valvigna, Scandicci and Arezzo leather goods cutting centres and the warehouses in Levanella, connecting up 36 pieces of machinery, optimising the productivity of its processes and receiving a fiscal benefit of almost €950,000 over six years. In 2020 and beyond the automation project will be extended to all investments compatible with Piano Industria 4.0.
