In an era when everyone seems to want to offer a simplified definition of themselves, Prada likes to buck the trend and do the precise opposite. The Prada Spring/Summer 2020 menswear advertising campaign features a trio of contemporary creatives: the musician Frank Ocean, the actor Austin Butler and the director, screenwriter and producer Nicolas Winding Refn.
Each figure introduces themselves with words that are an acronym of the brand’s name – P.R.A.D.A. – referencing song lyrics, lines from a script, and so on, in a playful metaphor that embraces the indefinability of the brand’s concept, providing a way to reinterpret the image, and try to define the indefinable PRADA. The three figures are shot in various poses with original attitudes – contradictory panoramas and portraits that reflect the incessant movement from one place or one condition to another. A definition of Prada that leaves plenty of room for interpretation and reinterpretation.
