Shaping a Sustainable Digital Future is the second event in the conference programme that is taking an in-depth look at the topic of sustainability. Held on 20 November at Fondazione Prada’s Milan headquarters, it was opened by Carlo Mazzi, the president of Prada S.p.A., who introduced, with a reflection on the relationship between sustainability and digital innovation, lecturers from the Politecnico di Milano and Yale University schools of management. Two round tables followed this: Professor Vittorio Grilli, the former Italian finance minister and Chairman of the Corporate & Investment Bank, EMEA at J.P. Morgan, introduced the first one, regarding the geopolitical impact of digital technology. The second began with a presentation from the Hackathon-winning students on their project to investigate digital technology’s potential to preserve the cultural identity of individuals and communities. Of particular importance is the keynote speech Beyond Digital of Professor Nicholas Negroponte, Chairman Emeritus at the Massachusetts Institute of technology (MIT) Media Lab, in which he analysed the opportunities provided by technology and stressed the importance of research and free and unrestricted training.
