A gala dinner on 5 June marked the opening of the fourteenth Convivio, the largest charity fair in Italy, held every two years in support of the Lombardy branch of ANLAIDS (Associazione Nazionale per la Lotta Contro l’AIDS – the National Association for the Fight Against AIDS).
The theme of the opening gala was sci-fi and Prada’s table design was inspired by the 1968 film ‘Barbarella, Queen of the Galaxy’, with a Martian setting: a garish, copper-coloured metallic fabric tablecloth, orange linen napkins and placemats made of black plexiglass. At the centre of the table were various cutouts from the film and three 1960s-style lava-lamps, and the display was rounded off by ten fibreglass chairs from the designers Charles and Ray Eames.
Prada took part in Convivio with a selection of leather goods.
