A new cutting centre has opened within the historic Terranuova Bracciolini management centre (near Arezzo, Tuscany), using part of the area that for many years was dedicated to research and development for Prada’s leather goods collections, and which became vacant when staff from this department were transferred to the new Valvigna plant.
The space has been completely reorganised and renovated to house the leather goods cutting centre, which joins the existing facilities at the Scandicci and Valvigna plants. This is part of a wide-ranging project to develop this stage of the production process, aiming to keep it in-house and therefore maintain the extremely high quality standards for which Prada is renowned while improving efficiency and monitoring of consumption levels.
The new department has 2,500 m2 of floor space and comprises a single room on two floors, fitted with 21 state-of-the-art automatic cutting machines made by leading Italian firms.
All the departments that support the cutting process have been positioned adjacent to the new room: the warehouse for storing the leather and fabric, the preparation area, the CAD office, the cut product quality control area and the shipping warehouse.
