The Prada Torgiano factory in Perugia, a historic hub for the Prada Group’s knitwear manufacturing, has completed the first two of the three stages of an extensive restructuring and internal reorganization project, which also involved the opening of a new 2000 – square – meter building.
The aim of this operation was to bring in a few production lines and activities previously outsourced, thus ensuring greater efficiency and quality control for the production process and the finished product. This was achieved by expanding the existing structure through both acquisition of equipment and machinery and staff hiring.
The first stage ended on 3 July with the opening of the new building, designed with a special eye to quality of work, in terms of space and fixtures and lighting; a ceiling providing light from above and full-height windows were fitted for this purpose.
The second stage, which ended a few days ago, entailed a thorough restoration of the existing building, now connected to the new one. Work affected the structures and the inner spaces – completely redesigned – as well as a renovation of fixtures and floors, and window enlargement.
According to the work schedule, the third stage, which has just started, will involve the office spaces and will be completed in December.
